Kyung-sook, Kyung-goo, Kyung-min and Keum-shil are siblings. Keum-shil shares the same father as her older siblings but has a different mother. During a time of hardship, Kyung-sook the eldest of the 4 siblings try to help her family make it through life. Her step-mother (Keum-shil's mother) is found to have had an affair with a political figure, leaving the children's father in a bind. Keum-shil's mother is murdered, and the blame is being put on their father. The truth behind her death will greatly affect the four children who later grow up to be adults.
